“Big L.T.” is a disabled man who lives on $800 a month. One evening he was watching the Antiques Roadshow’s “Most Expensive Item” episode when he realized that he has the same item.
It was a pure shock at first for L.T. to realize that a blanket handed down from generation to generation in his family was extremely valuable.
He grabbed the blanket and made an appointment with an appraiser, Jeff Moran of John Moran Auctioneers. Initially, the Moran felt that the value of the blanket was around $50,000.
The appraiser estimated that the blanket was woven prior to the 1850’s and sent fibers from the blanket off to another expert and L.T. was once again shocked.
The fibers proved that the blanket was valued even higher than the first estimate at close to now between $100,000 and $200,000!
“I almost wanted to cry,” L. T. says in the video.
Desperately wanting to own his own home, “Big L.T.” made the decision to list the blanked in an auction. He assumed he would get around $200,000 because the opening bid would be $150,000.
Watch to see just how much the blanket sold for!
